Dear foreign friends and subscribers,
many of your have been asking me about "that black book". There's no English translation of my debut novel yet. But here's a translation of the book release interview I gave to a newspaper some time ago. This interview will answer many of your questions. Please, enjoy 😊

No sooner has the book come out it received many different comments and reviews, occasionally controversial. Some readers critisize “The Anatomy” (mostly female audience), and some praise the book (many men would like to shake the author’s hand), but one thing is obvious — nobody remains indifferent after the reading.
For those who have yet to read it, the following are a few words regarding the plot: the protagonist Pierpaolo Paretti, an Italian man, denies the values imposed on him by the society and sets off in search of his male luck within the countries of the CIS (The Commonwealth of Independent States — 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳’𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦).
He plunges himself in the art of professional seduction and goes through a difficult way from a total loser to a modern Casanova. Having passed through the crucible of human passions and numerous love adventures, he gained unique and priceless life experience but could not rid himself of universal loneliness…
I immediately warn you that the degree of frankness used by the author to describe the protagonist’s experience, can make some unprepared readers blush, and for others it can cause a storm of puritan and prudish indignation at certain points.
As for the story, it is quite dynamic, the natures of the characters are revealed, their motives are clear. The narration is figurative, bright, emotional. It is written in a good syllable, and easy to read… Furthermore, the Italian theme is spelled out so well as if the author was born and lived in that country for a long time.
I have met Dimitry Smirnoff to learn more about how the novel was created.
— 𝘿𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙧𝙮, 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖 𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣? 𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙩?
— The protagonist’s prototype persona is a real person. He is Italian. I met him while working at an international oil and gas project in the far east of Russia. The plot is based on his life story which he told me. The story impressed me, as they say, I couldn’t pass by, and so I made up my mind to write about it.
— 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙚𝙩 𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙧?
— First, I intended to reveal the inner world of a man, I tried to show deep layers of male mentality, wanted to get to True motives of male behavior. Also, it was very interesting to view the protagonist’s relations with himself and with women. Through the process of working on the book I made an effort to do it as honestly and truthfully as possible. Well, it is up to the readers to judge how closely I approached the goals set forth. From the incoming reviews I can say that almost every person who read “The Anatomy” finds in it a piece of themselves.
Secondly, I wished to show the nature of the relationship between men and women with no pink haze and sugary rhetoric. Very often, we can stumble upon a description of some completely unrealistic couple relationship in so called “love books”. You read it and you wonder: where on earth could an author see that in life? They write some tales that absolutely do not reflect reality. People, particularly the youth, read such “bestsellers” and believe in fantastic stories about fairytale love, cloudless relations; then they face the reality, which often turns out to be completely different and they become deeply disappointed.
— 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚. 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙪𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨?
— We can argue endlessly on this subject. The female audience often consider him more negative. Paretti’s actions and thoughts are more understandable and closer to those of men therefore they never blame him.
I’m fully aware that I could have gotten a larger number of female voices if I had finished the novel showing that the protagonist does indeed find his “the one and only”; if they were to have a lot of Italian-Russian kids, live together happily in a house on the Adriatic and, as the story usually goes, die old on the same day. But I didn’t finish it up this way because such a finale would not correspond to the inner spirit and mood of the character.
— 𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠, 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚?
— I think “The Anatomy” adequately reflects real life. Within that arises the question: is there a lot of spirituality in our everyday life? I suppose there is little.
— 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙤𝙗𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙧?
— One of the pluses is that the book is well “sobering up” and stimulating those boys and men who have gotten confused in life, tired of being “a victim” and who want fundamental changes, such as: a new woman, a new social environment, a new job…In this sense the book can be considered motivational and inspiring. Another plus is that after reading “The Anatomy” a girl or a young woman can finally understand (if she has not understood yet) what is inside a man’s head, what he wants and is looking for, what really drives him…
By the way, a novel’s readers club already exists in the social network “VKontakte” (https://vk.com/anatomia_soblaznenia). Most of the active members of the club are girls from 23 to 27 y.o. People have left their feedback, post reviews and their impressions on that virtual platform after reading “The Anatomy”; they discuss relationship topics, exchange opinions, argue and debate, as well. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity and invite the readers of this newspaper to join our club.
— 𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙?
— I must confess, I haven’t fully revealed myself as the writer of this book. As for the subject being covered, I feel that I could dig it deeper. I’ve got some more things to say on this issue (laughing).
— 𝘿𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙠-𝙪𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨? 𝘼 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙮, 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚; 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙠-𝙪𝙥 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙭 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮. 𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚?
— Vicious or moral, those are all subjective assessments. The experience that Pierpaolo received is unique. The character went though that stage of his life as his personal choice. One can only guess how he will live on. Additionally, the novel’s ending is open and the reader themselves can think up a continuation.
— 𝘼𝙣 𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖, 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣, 𝙨𝙪𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙩𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠. 𝘼𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙖 𝙬𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙠 𝙣𝙤 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚. 𝘿𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧?
— If you look at the historical figure of Giacomo Casanova, then you can see that he really never had a family. He had some illegitimate children, but never managed to master the roles of a respectable husband and a trustworthy father of a family. His whole life was a series of continuous adventures, gambles and love affairs. I’m sure that many women wanted to make him marry them, but their efforts failed. I believe that Casanova didn’t want that to happen because he understood he was born for another life.
Yes, he ended up his days as a lonely old man. But who can guarantee that in a family a man in his declining years won’t feel himself just as much “a wreck no one needs anymore”?
— 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙠-𝙪𝙥 𝙖𝙧𝙩? 𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙞𝙩?
— I am positive about the art of pick-up. It works. An attentive reader will be able to find in the novel a supporting character whose persona I am. The problem here is different. Unfortunately the term “pick-up” has recently acquired a negative connotation. This is due to the fact that now a lot of seduction trainings that have been bred are simply aimed at pumping money out of clients, but they do not even remotely teach seduction itself. Reputable coaches give young guys with a fragile psyche all sorts of crazy tasks; for example, a guy cannot go home until he collects 10 phone numbers or he must approach a girl in the street by saying “hello” and slapping her ass. It is precisely because of such things that some people in society start to feel negatively over the term “pick-up”.
— 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙨𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙡 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡? 𝙄𝙛 𝙨𝙤, 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩?
— Yes, I’m already working on a sequel to the novel. I am going to show the life of the protagonist in a megacity like Moscow. Unlike the first book, the second one will have less of all that pickup rush and fuss. Pierpaolo Paretti gained some experience, became wiser and more serious, but the search for a perfect match continues for him. At the same time, searching for his soul and destiny... In the new novel I intend to take a closer look at the mentality of a man in a couple during a long relationship.
